Gemstone Meanings

For centuries, semi-precious stones have played a large role in the healing process, protection, good fortune and mental well being of people throughout the world. Alone, or combined together, these stones can enhance a person’s natural energy and work with their aura to create a clarity that is found in the meaning for wearing each particular stone.

Aquamarine

Aquamarine: Helps enhance communication skills, light-heartedness, spiritual levels of awareness and confidence. Releases anxiety, fear and restlessness. Amethyst

Apatite

Apatite is said to enhance one’s insight, learning abilities and creativity, and to give increased self-confidence. It also is said to help achieve deeper states of meditation. Using apatite is said to facilitate the desired results when working with other minerals. Healing Properties: Apatite is said to be useful to help improve one’s coordination and to strengthen muscles, and to help suppress hunger and ease hypertension. Adventurine

Provides balance for female and male energies. Protects the heart Chakra, providing a shield to block others from stealing your good energy. Healing Properties: Heals emotional pain, fear and imbalance by dissolving blocks in your heart. Draws out heat in fevers, inflammation and nervous system stress. Used in disorders of heart, lungs and adrenal glands. Color: Translucent Green

Carnelian

Balances creativity and mental process. Stimulates analytical capabilities and precision. Protects against rage, anger and fear. Symbolizes the love you give returns to you. Healing Properties: Helps in relieving trauma and the healing process. Color: Pale Orange, Red or Brown

Chalcedony

Is said to be used as a sacred stone by the Native Americas, promoting stability within the ceremonial activities of the tribe. Healing Properties: Augments emotional balance, vitality, stamina, endurance, kindness, charity and friendliness. It supposedly alleviates hostilities, irritability and melancholy. Colors: blue-white, buff, light tan, gray, yellow or brown and green. (Agate, Carnelian, cat’s eye and Onyx are types of Chalcedony).

Citrine

Symbolizes happiness and uplifting, mental focus and warmth. Healing Properties: Aids in digestion and removes toxins from the body. Also is used in treating depression, constipation and back problems. Color: Yellowish-Orange.

Fresh Water Pearl

An irregularly shaped pearl that is cultured naturally in a mussel living in a lake or a river. Native Americans of the Atlantic Coastal areas and the Mississippi River Basin were the first to collect and use U.S. freshwater mussel pearls and shells. Some of the tribes used pearls as tributes. They are noted for their wide range of color, they can be found in white, silvery white, pink, salmon, red, copper, bronze, brown, lavender, purple, green, blue, cream, and yellow. Garnet

Believed to give protection from wounds and poison. Symbolizes truth, compassion, fidelity and prosperity. Enhances creativity, strengthens willpower and increases self-esteem. Hessonite

Can help with speedy success of endeavors in less time then expected. Protects the wearer from sudden misfortune. Vitality, wealth, happiness and year round prosperity. Labradorite

Lapis

The history of Lapis is very intriguing. The Romans believed it was a very powerful aphrodisiac. In the Middle Ages, it was thought to keep the soul free from envy, fear and error, and to keep limbs healthy. Until the nineteenth century it was used in Europe to paint sky and seascapes. The stone is believed to aid in the opening of the third eye, which is believed to lead to understanding, higher guidance, intuition, writing, creativity and dream insight and connection to higher self. Moonstone

It is a symbol of the third eye, and is said to balance yin/yang. Allows people to feel more comfortable with their gentler side.
